JINS Sculptures: Object
These sculptures were commissioned by JINS Eyewear for display in their store in San Mateo.
I was asked to create one object and a series of small artifacts inspired by the colors and textures of the desert. The piece titled “Object” became more of a lunar surface in the plaster and salt application. The salt leached into the Hydrocal as it was curing making the additional tint.

Hydrocal and Rock salt
This piece evokes salt flats and the surface of the moon. The salt crystals are embedded in the Hydrocal and sanded to create a terrazzo surface.

I also created a series of small pieces that could be used for store display. The pieces are inspired by geodes and fragments from the built environment.
