I was an artist in residence at ZKU during the summer of 2012. I spent my time observing moths flying around the light in my room at night.

From these observations, I created a chandelier out of found miner’s baskets and braided steel cable. The chandelier uses candles and braided cable to mimic the flight patterns of the moths in my room.

ZKU is in an abandoned train depot in East Berlin where there is still quite a lot of industrial activity.

The view at night from the old platform was of cranes and trains all lit up and moving through the dark. This industrial activity served as the background to the chandelier and a series of other light installations I created.
